We are currently studying the mechanisms that govern pluripotency in the bovine blastocyst in order to understand the reasons behind this failure and propose ways to address this issue. Despite several attempts, bona fide bovine embryonic stem cells have not been obtained. We use in vivo and in vitro derived embryos which are submitted to microarray analysis, small interfering RNA injections, quantitative PCR, immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridizations.
